Pontifex the Precious Father

When primitive man first found gold on Arcania, it was in the shape of dragon scales. These scales were said to be the sheddings of Pontifex. Time would then churn them into fragments and scatter them about the world over aeons. Gold dragons are amongst the most rare of the ancient dragons. They are always male and can vary greatly in size. The secret of their reproduction has never been discovered. One theory is that fragments of stars falling to earth are their beginnings, made live by powerful magic on Arcania. Pontifex has not been seen since before the time of “The Cleansing”.

Procul, the Arcane Pillar

“I saw him, once, Procul, the one known as the Arcane Pillar. You won’t believe me, I know, no one believes a jester, but I assure you I did! Before I juggled for the nobility’s amusement, I was a mercenary. In the last skirmish, I was. Not a very good one, mind, and so when the forces of Jakra descended upon my company, I was too busy taking a leak to fight, meself! When I returned, I saw a white light so pure, it burned me left eye straight out of its socket. Legend says Procul is the eldest Primordial Dragon; I say he is no dragon at all. He is magic itself.”

Purpura, Nature’s Bane

Purples are among the younger races of Arcania dragons. When potion makers discovered the use of natural flora to produce potions and poisons, they stored their experiments underground in subterranean lakes. These lakes were water sources for green dragons. As a result of human tampering with natural forces, some green dragons mutated forming the purple dragons, which are beasts with unique talents for death. Purpura is the ruler of the cult of dragons known only as “The Forsaken”. Purple dragons have lost the ability to breathe fire but can instead exhale many colorful hallucinogenic gases and poisons.
