Abigan the Morose

Once upon a time on Arcania, a small basket was found on a doorstep with two dragon hatchlings inside. Abigan and her sister Eliban were cared for by a human family who loved the two immensely. While the two sisters at first appeared identical, as they grew, the differences physically and mentally became all too apparent. The family eventually died and, perhaps because of that, Abigan became large and heavy, a worrisome thing who seldom moved from the same spot as mold started to cover her. Sullen and lonely, Abigan now spends most of her time sleeping, awakening only to feed and worry herself back to sleep. Petrol ‘Abigan’

Aequinox, the Shaft of Light

Legend says that Aequinox, the Shaft of Light was born when the first rays of the sun reflected off the surface of Arcania. One of the ancient dragon races, white dragons are without any known fear. Possessing all knowledge of life and death, they willingly perish so that others may live. While men waged war with themselves, it was the white dragons who granted protection to the innocent in the “Time of Miracles”. Aequinox is not bound to earthly existence and is believed to be the force of charity throughout the cosmos. The fire of Aequinox is blue and can melt any known material on Arcania.

After the Thunder Spring

It stormed last night in the valley below. I, a wanderer, stood in awe, at the broken sky, at the twisted lightning — strike strike! At the dragon that rode the thunder into a new spring; a wanderer; himself A wonder.

Al’alghaz, the Riddler

Al’alghaz, the Riddler “My husband always wanted to see the pyramids but he was afraid. For our fortieth wedding anniversary, I booked tickets as a surprise. ‘What could happen?’ I thought. We get to the pyramids and I have my camera ready to capture the moment and what happens? An avalanche of sand comes crashing down on us! That’s when it appeared, asking if we wanted to solve a riddle. Now I hear it won’t let foreign aid into the country until its riddle is solved. Trouble is, the riddle is in some dragon language. Anyway, we went back to the hotel for mojitos.” Elderly Woman Present at Time of Appearance (TOA)

Amifist, Born of Stone

Not all who heard Eternis’s song served the White. For every major chord there is a minor, and underpinning Eternis’s melody came the somber howl of darkness. Obsidian and sapphire, amber and amethyst infused with the song’s Dust sprang forth to claim their place as dragons among the stars. The purple amethyst dragon formed just outside Thebes. Its body, made from black intention and white magic, tore. It needed fuel; the same fuel that gave it life. Dust. In a word: Souls. Eternis heard the soldiers cry as the dragon devoured their souls. He heard it across Arcania on battlefields near and far. That’s when he knew he’d made a terrible mistake.

Amina, Obsidian Queen

Lightning ripped across the sky as Amina faced Rubis. The two massive dragons flew around each other like prize-fighters; Amina’s glass horns shimmered as bright as Rubis’s rubies. “You recognize each other,” Jain said. She felt an emotional tug from the spiritual link binding Amina to her. A wave of deep sorrow washed over her. Amina had once ruled over the gemstone dragons as their protector and queen; and yet, for the last year, she’d been forced to do Jain’s bidding. And the bidding of an assassin always ended in one of two ways: terror, or death.

Angrozh, Obsession Incarnate

Clear dragons are the silent witnesses of Arcania. Never getting involved with the affairs of dragons or humans, they are often only sensed and not seen. In secret, Angrozh searches human settlements and battlefields for the fabled Dragon Shields. Once found, he consumes them to gain their mystical properties along with the power of other dragon types. Devouring the weapons forged with the help of dragons has changed him into a hungry creature of obsession with a formidable array of talents. Angrozh’ power is mounting and he no longer returns to the home of the clear dragons high above the land.

Arado, Hybrid Assassin

Arado dipped between shaking spires that jutted from the backs of sleeping ivory dragons, awoken by his attack. *What should we do?* Arado said telepathically to Jill, his pilot. She was encased in Arado’s spine, jacked in with a hundred inputs. *We should — watch out!* Arado narrowly missed a spire only to crash into a slimmer one behind it. The spire exploded on contact. Fire ripped across Arado’s body. Jill’s scream echoed in Arado’s head. The spires were the ivory dragons’ natural defense mechanism, sharpened to a point and set to explode on impact. Arado felt Jill’s fear as King Kendrick, below, attacked.

Argentia, Born of Silver

Eternis’s Folly #2: Argentia Eternis’s song echoed around Arcania from the northernmost tundra of the Wraithlands to the southernmost section of the Tail. Char, the Primordial Dragon of fire, and Logi, the Crimson Guardian Dragon, paused their duel in the Molten Fields to listen. Neither combatant could help themselves, such was the power of the White Dragon’s song. And deep beneath the Molten Fields, where silver and iron bubbled and oozed, the notes of Eternis’s song stitched together minerals like ligaments. Muscles formed made from iron and skin from silver until wings emerged from pools of silver lava. They beat twice before launching into the air for the first time.

Arteris, the Passion

Although the evidence is not entirely unambiguous, many hold to the belief that Arteris is the patron of true love. It is said, that seeing him on your wedding day is the best possible omen – an augur of deep love in the years to come. Love however, does not always equal happiness, for though it is true that Arteris grants and enjoys true love, he does not always make sure the love is requited. So in truth, the love granted will just as often turn into tragedy. To Arteris it is all the same.

Aurora, Dragon of Glass

Shep stared at the same spot in the clearing at the same time of day every day for six years. He joined the Mages of the Shattered City of Glass believing he would discover secret magic, become a great mage, and use his powers to reshape the world. What young man hasn’t felt the dragon of ambition in his belly? But what had he learned upon finding the city? A priesthood full of old, wasted men, all waiting for… The air in front of him shattered like a vase set to stone. Light streamed from the space between reality, blinding. Aurora, Dragon of Glass, had returned. And with him, the dragon in Shep’s belly.

Azokuang, Ruler of the Warped

“Scattered throughout the twin planets of Arcania and Raacnia, the Dragon Shields fall into the hands of kings as surreptitiously as midwives. But in the Wyrm Gate, where the Warped Dragons under Azokuang rule, the Warped Shields’ locations are known. Their avatars, the Warped Dragons themselves, live to defend the Warped Shields from falling into the wrong hands. Yet the Scaleriders come. Corrupted by continued exposure to the Wyrm Gate, they are immortal, preternaturally strong, and gifted with power. They come for the Warped Shields. They come for a fight. And our best defense, Azokuang himself, is missing.” —Ko’tune, Disciple of Azokuang
