The dragon Ogier was first discovered near a tomb in the hills of Lorardum in Northmarch and lies more in homage to mystery than to any known actual history. Imposing but arrested, Ogier nonetheless appears to hold sway over the area, guarding it from those who would move just a single rock. Around his site there are depictions of known landmarks of Arcania, but also of battles against large flying machines unknown to historians. One of the markings close by translates into an ominous warning: “Fear Mortals the Second Life of these Bones.”
Sara and Hue soared through the night, clutching to the tendrils along Botan’s back. She cradled the night blue egg she’d won from the Midnight Festival that evening, Botan’s baby, against her. “Woohoo!” Hue screamed, exalted as Botan flew through a cloud. You are strange humans, Botan said in their minds. You serve the white. Not all humans do. There are those that would take my egg to gain power, to corrupt it. I am glad that if any had to find my egg, it was you— A cannon blast from below tore through Botan’s wing, sending her spiraling and bucking Sara and Hue from her back. The siblings fell, screaming as Opeth, the Osiris Beam careened up.
Willam admired the glistening ivory spires that scratched the sky all around him as he left the Ivory Fields. Willam’s mission: recruit the Ivores that lived in the castle fortress underground to the Commonwealth. He’d failed. Suddenly, an explosion rocked his carriage. Through smoke, a mechanized dragon glowed with mint-colored energy and swooped. The spires trembled as the sand parted, revealing the Ivory war beasts that waited underneath to defend the fields. Opylae, the war beast of the Ivores, blocked the mint dragon’s attack. The Ivore King sat on its back and nodded to Willam. Treaty accepted.
